Turk’s Grotto | Gaeta | Italy

Sometimes you need the sea,

of its noise,

its silences …

Words are not enough,

are mute, no sound, no soul.

Sometimes the thoughts are flying in the sky to rest on some rocks then …

Sometimes the fear starts to cry.

Sometimes the horizon holds your hand.

The TURK’S GROTTO is a spectacular split in the mountain, in the form of an arch. The grotto was used as hiding place for Saracen pirates. These pirates went out at night to ravage the coast. Gaeta was tormented by Saracens for more than 60 years, from 846 to 915, when it finally defeated them in the battle of the River Gariglia.
