Josephine Raffaella Magno & MRJ

Today I want to tell you a story about a little girl who loved to play with colors and started to draw dresses for her dolls…
I want to talk about imagination, creativity and the strength of will that turned the little girl into a woman and gave the woman the ability to turn her dream into reality …
Working for different famous brands (like Gucci, Valentino, Roberto Cavalli…), her passion for accessories and handbags has started and inspired by Amelia Earhart’s love for travelling and by the designs of her aviator leather aviation apparel, she created something special…

I want to introduce you Josephine Raffaella Magno, Fashion Designer.

Vi voglio presentare Josephine Raffaella Magno, Fashion Designer.

Here below My interview to Josephine :

1.Which was the first ever MRJ bag; could you describe it?

My first ever MRJ bag was a prototype made for my final thesis in University in 2008. It was made out of camel colored nappa leather. It is a mixture between the scarf bags and the tie bags that I produce for MRJ. I took the best ideas from the bag and was able to use it’s best features into two separate concepts.

2.Did you sell it or still belongs to your own collection?

No, I don’t think I will ever sell it because it is with this bag that the entire concept started. I think it has too much sentimental value for me.

3.Tell me more about which is the more exciting part in the creation process of your bags.

The most exciting part of creating the bags has to be in the final phases. After many hours of work between sketches, designs, patterns, and sewing, I finally see the bag completed. It is the greatest satisfaction to see my simple idea go from a sketch to an actual product.

4.What are your new horizons, after that of a bag, did you have in mind to reinvent other commonly used items in fashion, can you give a preview to MISSEYCHELLES FOLLOWERS?

I began the concept of Hands-Free Bags because it was actually something that I actually needed, especially for going out and traveling and noticed it didn’t really exist on the market. So, for the near future, I do have a few projects in mind and we’ll see where they bring me. However, for the moment, there are so many ideas in store for the Hands-Free Bags that the possibilities are endless. For MISSEYCHELLES FOLLOWERS I can just say to keep following your blog and MRJ’s progress and when the times comes we are going to do a brand extension, you will be the first to know.

Thank you so much MRJ!!! ^_^

Grazie mille MRJ!!! ^_^

  1. the model in the fourth pic is fantastic, I love it. The idea behind all these creations is so brilliant. It is always tempting to think of fashion as something trivial, superficial and frivolous, but here it is entirely another thing; here we have a perfect match of beauty, care in design, utility in life of every days and practicality. Very well done, my warmest congratulations to your friend Josephine…. p.s. Christmas is almost upon us, this post suggested me good ideas for a possible gift :-)!!

  2. I think she has style and her creations are ingenious. That’s why I talked about Josephine. I’m not interested in anything as long as it is fashionable. I am interested in creativity, idea, history and in work behind fashion. The final product expresses beauty and I want to talk about it, but it is not the same beauty expressed by an artist when talks about his creation, I also want to discover that beauty…

  4. This looks like nothing else. There is truly something from Amelia Earhart in this collection. Wonder if Josephine Magno also creates scarves. Amelia Earhart was a scarf lovers and to me she is the one who made scarves popular for women.
    Fantastic post! Thanks:-)
